Getting to Ventotene

Ferries leave for Ventotene Island from Formia port which is equidistant from Rome and Naples (about an hour on the train). Trains leave for Naples and Rome every hour. The ferries have limited space, so it is advised to book a place for your car in advance, although a few places are always kept free until one hour before departure. Upon arrival at Ventotene a luggage transport service called ‘Peppino’ is available. Hotels usually offer a luggage service too for guests staying at the hotel. If you embark on the island with your car, you must go directly to your destination within the hour after arrival at port, as circulation is restricted in order to maintain visibility on the narrow roads and to preserve tranquility on the island.
